What is up AGL?! We are finally about to have the long awaited draft! Season 2 will be starting here soon and with our expansion of the league, the talent has gotten better! With that being said, I think it is time for me to do an analysis of the teams and the top prospects. So let's not waste any time and get to it.

AGL Divisions

AGL Teams:

3rd Period Excellence:
I think most of us are familiar with this team here. Coming over to the AGL during the expansion, some of us will have high expectations from the champs of the BGL.
Nobez and Cibiwar know how to put a team together and I would not be surprised to see them draft some former members of their team. Stellar defense and behind the net offense has been their bread and butter in the past. Getting 1 or two solid dman and solidifying a good goalie tandem are going to be the main focus I would think here. I believe they will have addressed their needs early in the draft.

Night Owls:
Lecesse has been active quite a bit and feel like he and the management team are doing their homework. With a good offense already solidified, I expect for them to go defense early and to find the answer at goalie. Going after a 1st/2nd line winger isn't out of the question early if it's someone who has slid down the draft board a bit.
With them having the 7th pick, it could definitely set the tone for their whole draft depending on who they get. Being in the west (which I think is going to be the toughest) they gotta make the right move.

Ice Hawks:
Agger will probably have the best stats as a dman in the league. He will make sure to set up his wingers and will look to score himself. I truly think going after a stud goalie and a for sure sniper winger will be their main focus.
Look for them to be an offensive juggernaut regardless of who they draft.

Trash Pandas
Being in the South division and coming out of the top is going to be no small task. With the Pine Riders, Vipers, and Ice Hawks in there, building a strong team defensively would be my main focus.
With the 1st overall pick, the Trash Pandas control the draft. Will they select WhiteOneTee or will they go defensive? Either way they are setting the tone of their team right off the bat and have the chance to get their guy. Whoever they want. So they can't mess it up. Can they?

Pine Riders:
Being the season 1 champs is going to bring in some high expectations to do a repeat right? And having the 12th pick is not going to hurt them either. They can find a good and top quality player at that spot.
The real question is... Can the Pine Riders be up to be AGL's first repeat champions or will they be dethroned by a new team? I don't think they will go away easy and they have plenty of ammunition to still prove to the league that they are the juggernaut that I think they are.

Mighty Lobsters:
Alright. When you have Dandyman as your starting G, the team is going to be a tough team to play against. His stats last year were crazy and the reason why he has the respect he has in this league. Having Spiderx8xMonkey already helps the offense and having Hangerhog to play Goalie when needed really puts them in a good spot.
Having the 20th pick puts them in a really good spot as they will have an early pick in Round 2. Look for them to build the offense to match Spiders skill set and honestly good luck scoring against this team.

Brew-Tang:
Deplorable and B1G_W1G might have a chip on their shoulders as they are the newcomers and some may say they have something to prove.
Both of them are talented forwards and will have the 10th pick to improve their team. Will a top tier Dman still be available? Or will they go to find their partner in crime in a forward. Either way, both can score when they want, but will they be able to put a team together that can keep the puck out of their net? Let's see what they decide to do!

Whalers:
Side note... this is my favorite logo! Love it! When you have Bloody and Retro on your team, let's just say that they will have the best goalie tandem in the league on paper.
With Insane on defense I can guarantee they will be looking to find their offensive leader at the 5th pick in the draft. Maybe NxtiveKarlson. Maybe. Or do they go to finding Insane the perfect defenseman to play alongside him? They are in a really good position to make a huge splash.

Bayou Bandits:
FatGuyInaTie and his team will have an interesting position in the draft. He and BKnott are both players who play well everywhere so with the 9th pick in the draft, they could honestly go either direction and I am sure it would be hard to debate against it.
Being in the South division is going to be tough for them though. They will have to make sure to build a team that can score against the Pine Riders and Trash Pandas, while also keep the Ice Hawks and Dutchmen from scoring against them. Only time will tell on how to grade their draft.

Blue Demons:
The one thing that sticks out to me about Dutch and DandaRocketMan is their IQ of hockey. The 3rd pick puts them in a good position. They post things in their discord of defensive zones and rotations, so these guys know how to run a team.
But will they be able draft guys who can fit in with that culture and do what they want them to do without trying to play "hero" and hog the puck. These guys will build a good team and be a contender. Question is though, will it be good enough to come out of the West?

Ducks:
The Ducks have a tough hill to climb in their division. With the goaltending of the Whalers and having Moneyshot in that division, can they build a team to contend them or even contend to be second in their own division?
Well, with the 2nd overall pick, this puts them in a do-or-die postion. They got to make sure they strike gold with their pick or it could be a long season for them.

Fighting Amish:
MonkeyWrench and Swayyze I know can play some Chel. But, when it comes to building a team, that is still up in the air. Both are great players and I know they have been scouting quite a bit these past few weeks.
Sitting at drafting 4th overall, they will be looking to find their cornerstone on offense or defense. Like I said both of these guys are great players and going either direction I don't see how they can miss. Improving at goalie early should be their main focus as well, but maybe they know something I don't. That is very likely.

Flying Dutchmen:
I don't know the guys personally, but one thing I can say is I have played against these guys multiple times through scouting and it has been a battle every time.
These guys are scouting the right players obviously and will be a good matchup most of the time. They will definitely be the XBOX teams that I think will be one to contend for the title.

Gooney Tunes:
I will be honest. I haven't heard much feedback on this team and it could be one of those situations where they know who they want and will go after them in the draft.
This could be a team that surprises the league or they could be a team that just has a great name. We will all find out together.

Hooligans:
The Hooligans are going to be another interesting team. Some in the league think they are going to be middle of the pack, while others think they will be contending up top.
I don't know them personally, but one thing can be agreed on... they are going to be a tough matchup for most teams and could surprise the league if they can build the right team.

Kings of the North:
First... LOVE the logo. Please forgive me for not giving a full insight on the XBOX teams, but I will make sure to have more on them moving forward.
Same story with them as it was with the Hooligans. This team could surprise us... or they could be at the bottom of the standings too. Only time will tell with this one.

Money Shot:
Money Shot might just be in one of the best positions in the league. Having the 18th pick is a good spot because they will have an early 2nd pick as well. With a stellar management team and possibly be in one of the weaker divisions, they could have one of the easier roads to the playoffs if they play their cards right. If they play their cards right....

Mutant Sharks:
MazeltovMalkin knows how to run a team. He proved that in the Winter Classics and has been given the chance to do it for league. Having Newfiewall on your team will solidify your need at goalie and Malkin can do a damn good job filling in there as well.
Sitting at 13th is an awkward spot in the draft, but Malkin I believe will put together quite the contender here.

Netstix & Chill:
By far the most creative team name. Love it! Billzmafia brought some familiar faces over during our expansion and they are going to look to make an impression in the AGL.
Sitting at 8th overall in the draft puts them in a good position to start off great. But will they? Can they build a contender for even their own division? We are just hours away from finding out.

No Dekes:
Kbatch, Krazy8, and Spelliscy_21 are a good trio of players for any team. The fact that these guys are running a team together puts them in a good spot moving forward.
They could go either direction in the draft sitting at 14th overall. Getting a good pair defensively would be a good start for them, but they may feel the need to getting a score first winger instead.

Puck Hogs:
Harvbar and DirtyFartz have been really active in their scouting games. I expect them to go after wingers early and finding an answer at goalie next.
Their defense is going to be solid and possibly going after Spoon in the 2nd would be a dream scenario for them. But maybe they have a different plan than I would.

Silverbacks:
CabRelix and crew, I expect to make some good choices in the draft. First 2 rounds are going to be crucial for them thought, so it is important that they land big on who they pick at 19th overall and who they pick early in the 2nd.
Cabrelix has been scouting actively these past few weeks and I feel like he already has the players he wants put down and will be ready to pull the trigger when the team is called. Good luck Cabrelix!

Spartans:
The Spartans I feel like could be a very good team given the position they are in. Yes they pick late, which will mean they will pick early in the 2nd. This is one of the benefits of the snake draft and I could see them possibly going defense first and going forward next. They could go vice versa and still be good to go moving forward in the draft.
They are the biggest question mark for me though as they will need the firepower offensively to get past the Sharks and the Lobsters in their own divison.

Vipers:
Bufford and his crew I feel like have had their list of players they want put down since the team was announced. I know Bufford is listed as a center and is damn good as a center. Playing in a fast-paced offense that most defenses can't match. But come playoff time, I can bet you he is going to play goalie. When he is in net, he is posting real life goalie numbers which is insane.
They are in a good position in the draft to build the offense and I assume they will build the defense later in the draft. The only thing that is going against them is playing in the toughest division in the league in my opinion. If Bufford goes to play will they have a center who can fill his shoes?
Alright, with all of that being said, I hope all teams draft well and everyone is happy where they go. Once this is over I am sure the merch sales are going to go up and the season will be starting here soon. Let's make sure we thank Bobby for the logos again and Slotty and crew for making all of this happen. This leagues potential is very high and I am excited to be apart of it. Be sure to tune in Lymes stream tonight everyone for the long awaited draft! Grab a beer, have the wife watch kids, and tune in for the start of something special. Until next time everyone, peace.
