Welcome to the CNC Weekly Recap, Week 1. This is going to be an article about the week, along with any trades or transactions that occurred. So without further hesitation, let’s get into the week!
The week was full of intense matchups, especially on the live broadcast of CNC, hosted by KingLyme. The week started off with Ottawa taking on the Flyers on stream, and winning 2-1. KrazyKoala was one of the hottest players of the week. He had 38 points in 9 games played, amassing 29 assists that currently leads the league. I spoke with Koala about the week he had. I asked him how he felt about the team after this 9-0 week the team performed; “I feel confident about our team's abilities and think we have a good chance of continuing to win.” Now, the starlight has to be shown for DirtyDangles. He had 42 points in 9 games for Montreal. He currently leads the league in goals with 21. Rounding out the top 5, would be KL12Mack, from New Jersey who had 32 points in 9 games. KarlssonisGod with 29 points in 9 games played for the Rangers, who seem to be struggling right now. Final for the top 5 is XsheeshX1 who had 27 points in 9 games played with NJ as well.
Offense is not always the only thing we focus on. Defenseman need to get some love too. According to the stats, Pitlick was the best defenseman this week, with 22 points in 6 games played, and all at defense. He had a +25 and had 28 interceptions. Next would be Flowsoclean, who besides 2 games at RW, played defense and had 15 points at Defense in 6 games played. He had 40 interceptions and had 30 takeaways.
Goaltenders were tough this week. The one that stands out is XXZip- as he played 6 games, and had 67 shots faced, with a 2.49 GAA. He was apart of the solid and on fire Ottawa Senators.
Looking at this weeks transactions, as of Sunday, 7/23 this is currently the moves that have happened.
The Colorado Avalanche traded Peacekeeper to the Philadelphia Flyers for gr33ny.
The Columbus Blue Jackets traded CoCoNuT to the Winnipeg Jets for Gymbob73.
The New York Islanders have traded
SHADOWxplayz21 to the Boston Bruins for killasin1979.
The Buffalo Sabres (My team) made a few moves as well. Buffalo traded dbtp80 to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Scopeyouout360. The Buffalo Sabres then traded l71_Gilbert_7l to the Columbus Blue Jackets for PghFANATIC.
The Boston Bruins traded
Pxckle_Oh to the @Winnipeg Jets for
Akeyboy32.
The Boston Bruins have traded
JPC77- to the Detroit Red Wings for mottly39.
After these moves, it appears Buffalo and Boston seem to have an interest in upgrading. The Rangers, are currently being talked about as a team that had a horrible week, and somehow has not made any moves.
Looking ahead, There are 2 teams I can see having a bounce back week. The first team is the Washington Capitals. This roster is talented, they are stacked. Ba_nanah lead the team with 18 points, in 6 games played. Followed by my fellow discord friend ColeMerks with 17 points in 6 games played. This team is going to need more from Krencho and Cree if they want to win. These are 2 of their best players, and honestly both top 10 talents in the league. They need to get it going before this team blows up. I have no doubt they’ll be better. The only place I can see fixing is goalie. They had 3 goalies play, Hot_Logger, Rabb1tx, and Vlexxy. They had a combined 4.56 GAA. That needs to be better as asking for nearly 6 goals or more a game is a hard task.
The team in the West I think that will rebound is the Los Angeles Kings. The Kings have a roster that is filled with solid players. They do not have one elite superstar in my opinion, but however they do have a roster that consists of ItzTrixxster, who has a team leading 20 points in 9 games. Habsfan, 19P 7GP, Flowsoclean, 19P 8GP, and my LG teammate Sxint_Pablo, with 6P in 3GP. This roster overall to me has solid depth all around, I think they can string together a few wins and start rolling. Their defense as a team may need to be a bit better, as their goalies have a 3.80 GAA. Overall I do think they will rebound and have a better week.
Final thoughts:
I think the teams we mentioned that are winning, had a good start. Will that continue? The teams that can rebound, I do believe both will. This is week 1 however, and I do think the season is long, a grind, especially in summer. The teams will slowly fall into place, and around Week 4/5 is where you will see what teams are actually above the pack.
Thank you for reading
